English rock band Whitesnake was founded in 1997 by lead singer David Coverdale, (formerly of Deep Purple). Back in the 80's Whitesnake was heavily into the commercial heavy metal style. Whitesnake was named the 85th greatest hard rock band of all time by VH1.
