English rock and pop band Mike + The Mechanics was formed as a side project in 1984 by Mike Rutherford, member of Genesis. The band also consisted of vocalists Paul Carrack and Paul Young (formerly of chart band Sad Café), keyboardist Adrian Lee and drummer Peter Van Hooke. After 2000 only Rutherford and Carrack remained as the original members of the band. (Paul Young died in 2000).

Mike & The Mechanics debuted with a self-titled album in 1985. They are known for hits like "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)", "All I Need Is a Miracle", "Word of Mouth", "Over My Shoulder", and "The Living Years". "The Living Years" became a US #1 single "All I Need Is a Miracle" reached #5 on the US Hot 100.

With Paul Carrack is doing some solo work, Mike Rutherford has teamed up with one of the UK's most successful R&B acts Andrew Roachford & Canadian born singer & actor Tim Howar for a new generation of Mike & The Mechanics.
