American R&B/pop falsetto singer Eldra Patrick "El" DeBarge was lead singer of the family group DeBarge throughout the early to mid-1980s. He is also nominated for two 2012 Grammys for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song. ("Second Chance").

El Debarge and The Debarges are best known for the 80's hits, "Rhythm of the Night", "Who's Holding Donna Now" and "You Wear It Well" (featured in Miami Vice). But it was the chart-topper "Rhythm of the Night" soared to the top of the charts both in the U.S. and in the United Kingdom. The album of the same name also went to number 3 on the 'Billboard' R&B charts and scored for the band their first platinum album.

El Debarge then began his solo career and in 1986 he released his self-titled debut solo album El DeBarge. "Who's Johnny" was the first single released from that album.(featured in "Short Circuit"). The single was a major success, peaking at #3 in the U.S. The music video for the song featured El with Short Circuit co-actors Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg.
