Big Country Concert Tour
New Big Country 2012 Music News

Big Country are a rock band from Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, popular in the early to mid-1980s. The band composed of Stuart Adamson (formerly of The Skids, vocals/guitar/keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar/mandolin/sitar/vocals), Tony Butler (bass guitar/vocals) and Mark Brzezicki (drums/percussion/vocals) as well as many drummers throughout the band's history.

Big Country hit it big with 1983's "Fields of Fire", which reached the UK's Top Ten. It was followed by the album "The Crossing" which spawned the bands best known hit, "In a Big Country", their only U.S. Top 40 hit single. Big Country's use of traditional Scottish folk instruments such as the bagpipes and fiddle, gave them a unique sound in their material.

In November 2001, lead singer Stuart Adamson disappeared. After many pleas to find his whereabouts, Adamson was found dead in Honolulu in December of 2001. A memorial to Adamson was held at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall in January 2002, followed by a tribute concert at the Barrowlands.

The surviving original members will tour again in 2012 with Mike Peters of the Alarm and Jamie Watson added to the lineup. Check out Big Country concert dates for 2012!
